Jex said Doulos doesn't allow you to take wave jobs. Wave jobs are often risky - financially, maybe bodily, and sometimes even mortally. Port Jobs are safe. Regulated, monitored. Most ports run a network system. You have an account as a seller or buyer, you gain reputation within the network. You burn people, you get black marks within the system and, eventually, no one trusts you. Port Jobs are safe. Wave jobs are not safe. These are people who prefer to work outside the port system. For various reasons. Sometime it's because there are no starport fees, no starport hassles, no taxes, less paperwork, less interference, But sometimes, no interference from law enforcement has more to do with it. Doing business with no regulation, no oversight, no protection, no consequences. These businesses locate in very far orbit from the planet. They send out 'waves' to passing ships. Usually with a very brief description of the job. For example "Cargo to Smuggler's Notch" or "Deep Space Disposal" or "Crew Rescue". If interested, you 'wave back' and the waver sends a data burst with more details. You reply and notify the waver that you'll take the job. Then, you'll usually receive the full details, such as destination or rendezvous coordinates. For obvious reasons, wavers only deal in cash or trade, never credits. Wave jobs can be received any time you are within a system. But, you are not the only one seeing the job - the waver is waving to any ship within the system - so, it can be taken before you even see it. The more often you check in at the Comms station, the more likely you are to see any waves being broadcast. But, again, Jex said Doulos does not allow you to take Wave Jobs. Wave Jobs are not Safe.
