Just trying to codify the ways we’ve typically done things and the way we’ll try doing things on Discord...
- We decide most things by choosing whatever is best for the story.
- This isn’t a comedy story.
- We do not speak for or act for any character not our own.
- We do not “overpower” any character not our own without consent of the character’s player. (For example “John pushes Jane out the door and locks it behind her.” where John is the writer’s character but not Jane and Jane’s player did not give consent for her character to be moved.)
- We “chew with our mouths open”, meaning as we “chew” the details of the story, we interact and share our thoughts and theories with the other players.
- The game books are toolboxes to pick and choose from as needs dictate, not rulesets that must be forced into every possible application.
- We are making a narrative readable by spectators, so…
- For story threads, keep chat in the channel - narrative and dialogue only in the threads. (this does not apply to mini-game threads)
- Don’t use emojis or graphics in story threads, aside from illustrative media (such as sound effects or an image of a person, place, object in the scene).
- Please honor requests to delete or alter what you’ve posted if asked by the GM and/or the group.
- After reading a post or sequence of posts, react with a check to indicate you have read it so everyone else knows when they are free to post.
- We often make multiple sequential posts to divide content, such as actions and dialogue. The poster can signify being done by adding a check to their final post.
- We keep things mostly safe-for-work, so mild profanity, no sex, no gruesome, no sadistic, and keep any posted media to modest standards.
- If you want to quit, please let us know and stick around for one last scene so your character can be written out of the story smoothly.
